Be Your Own Role Model -- Notes

NB These notes accompany the "be your own role model" questionnaire.

Successful slimmers often talk about how they woke up one day and decided that that was it! Enough was enough. No more just existing from day to day feeling tired, unhealthy and lacking in confidence just because of the extra weight they carried -- they decided to do something about it!

How does this actually feel? How do you know that you have reached this point in your life? How do you know that it will be different this time?

Decisions Mean Action

It's easy really. What happens is that your thoughts turn into decisions and decisions mean action.

Thoughts don't produce results, decisions do.

Following the Slimlife diet means that you are already turning your thoughts into actions.

Every time you fill in your food diary or write down your goals you are moving closer to being slimmer, fitter and healthier.

Congratulate Yourself!

You are on your way to the life you want to live for good.

Now I want you to look back at your life and think about a time you achieved something for yourself. What did you do that turned your thoughts and desires into the results you wanted?

Let's look at your life -- pick an experience you had where you achieved something. It could be anything. Going to college. Getting that job you really wanted. Organising a party. Getting married. Learning how to drive. Doing voluntary work. Becoming a parent.

If you are having trouble thinking of something then don't worry. Enlist the help of a trusted friend and you can do the exercise together. It is sometimes easier to value strengths and measure success in other people than in yourself. This exercise will start the process of helping you to see how successful you really are.

Have you noticed how everyone is good at some parts of their life and less capable in others?

That's What Makes People So Interesting

But if a part of your life is bothering you, like your health, or fitness or your size then you have the inner know-how to change it. You can learn from your successes to live your life how you want to.

If you are doing this exercise with a friend make a pact at the beginning to let each other answer each question before adding anything you might want to say. This way each of you really has a chance to hear yourself valuing your own achievements.
